Here’s the story on how we came to the conclusion that we needed to make DIY alligator corner bookmarks. We read a lot, and Gator is always in need of a bookmark. She was using one of my business cards as a bookmark for awhile, and then she lost her precious business card bookmark and saw me using the same kind of business card as a bookmark in my book. She was so excited that I had found her bookmark, I had to explain that these were just my ordinary business cards and they were just convenient to use since I have them stashed in my wallet at all times. It was at that point that I realized we needed to make some bookmarks.
I’ve always loved the corner bookmarks and they’re really simple to make. I decided to make our look like alligators, since Gator is her nickname she’s always fond of Gators, at least cute cartoony versions.
First, make three 7 cm squares on the edge of a piece of construction paper, then make diagonals down the squares on the side.
You can erase the edges, then cut it out. It’ll look kind of like a little fox face.
You’ll end up folding one corner over the other and gluing only the top corner, but don’t glue quite yet. It’ll look like this, but lined up a little better.
Then you’ll cut out your little detail pieces. We used white foam to create a row of teeth, make sure to keep the extra triangle teeth that you cut out of the foam for the bottom.
Here’s what it looks like after you glue the eye and teeth on the flap, first I had to trim down the teeth a little, they were still too wide.
Next glue the top flap over the flap with the teeth and eye on it. Then glue the other eye behind the bookmark slightly.
Grab a black marker and make eyes, nose, and the black space for the mouth.
Then you have the perfect alligator corner bookmarks, simple as that!
